Local Software Company, Colleges SentryPoints, the premier provider of homeland security technology according to the United States Conference of Mayors, has partnered with Indiana Tech and Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana to provide higher education opportunities to the Fort Wayne downtown area. “Each partner of this collaboration has given a substantial contribution to our effort to support the mayor’s downtown initiative,” stated Tom Teague, Chairman of SentryPoints. This collaboration will provide a gateway to working adults for educational opportunities after regular business hours. A recent community survey indicated that the citizens of Fort Wayne are supportive of this initiative. Classes at the FourthWave building, 300 E. Main Street, will focus on the needs of downtown businesses and their employees. Indiana Tech’s College of Professional Studies began offering classes in October with Principles of Management. Students are currently enrolled in Leadership, which will be followed by Human Resources Management in January. Indiana Tech will continue to add courses and programs based on the needs of the students seeking degrees. “Our degree programs are designed for people who need to complete or advance their degrees while still working full-time,” said Randal Gunden, vice president for the College of Professional Studies. “The ability to offer classes in downtown Fort Wayne fits perfectly with our core purpose of providing career-focused, professional programs of higher education.” The College of Professional Studies offers associate, bachelor’s, and master’s degrees in accounting, business administration, criminal justice, organizational leadership, information systems, and engineering. Each class meets once a week for five or six weeks (depending on whether it is undergraduate or graduate level), allowing the student to progress quickly while still handling family, work, and community responsibilities.
