SentryPoints Capabilities and Features

The following is a brief description of how SentryPoints' capabilities and features are suited to the first responder and response agencies and infrastructure such as Law Enforcement, Fire Rescue, Emergency Medical Services and Municipal Services. For an in-depth look at the system, please see our System Description.

SentryPoints is designed to work over an agencies existing voice communications infrastructure. This elevates the needs for additional radios or added network infrastructure costs to deploy such a dynamic system. Using the Micro InterNet Controller (MINC) in the REMOTE configuration and interfacing to the existing radio system provides the ability to send GPS position reports from any agency asset - equipment or personnel. This interface also allows for sending text and graphic symbols from units equipped with only a radio, or a handheld computing device (PDA), or a laptop computer or computer workstation.

While maintaining, and giving precedence to, voice communications, SentryPoints sends back GPS location, unit identity and status, and displays that information visually on a map of the area. This combination of unit's location and status is added to with information from Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) and produces the Common Operating Picture (COP).

In it's simplest configuration of a Remote and Radio "covert" (proprietary digital data packets transmitted instead of voice over radios) and emergency messages can be transmitted from any of the units on foot or in vehicle with or without the use of a computer. A pop-up flash message would appear at headquarters indicating a pre-programmed message from the unit.

SentryPoints is designed to interface to existing (legacy) CAD, GIS, and Records Management Systems (RMS) used by agencies and departments which takes information to a whole new level in the field by providing the dispatch picture anywhere in the network, if desired. SentryPoints also serves as an Automated Vehicle Location (AVL) for both the units and there superiors.

SENTRYPOINTS has the capability to serve as a primary CAD, RMS, AVL, and GIS system for customers without these systems.

Paperwork is part of any agencies day-to-day operations and SentryPoints has a dynamic messaging suite integrated with its mapping functions. Paperwork and files from an agency are "digitized" into the system so the user can enter data effectively and efficiently, reduces errors and maximizing "down time". Digitally sent over the communications systems ensures timely delivery and dissemination of the information.

The historical playback feature in SentryPoints could be used to review patrol routes and response times as well as an information tool for shift change. This function also works well as an after action evaluation tool for incidents and exercises.

The capabilities and features of SentryPoints are dynamic and the messages, communications interface, Graphic User Interface (GUI), unit symbology, are easily customized for the needs of your organization in accordance with you SOP. This allows for immediate installation and integration today and with future strategies and equipment.

SentryPoints can be easily scaled starting with a few software licenses in the security office, to equipping each and every unit with a laptop or handheld computer running SENTRYPOINTS on any of the following operating platforms: Windows NT, 2000, XP, PocketPC, UNIX, or LINUX providing everyone with the information and message capability needed. Upgrades of computers and radios do NOT require a redeployment of the SentryPoints Systems only the additional radio interface and migration of the existing licenses to the new equipment (and new Operating System).

Please examine the system description to better understand the capabilities and dynamics of the SENTRYPOINTS automated asset management system.
